VOLUNTEER POSITIONS

Rebound Program: Rebound is a 10-week cognitive skills program for youth ages 11-17. Volunteers work with youth once a week for 3 hours in a group setting teaching them life skills. Lots of training and support provided.
SNAP (School and non-academic Program): Volunteers provided academic and non-academic support to students ages 9-17 who are suspended or expelled from school. Volunteers are needed once a week for 2 hours. Lots of training and support provided.
C.H.A.N.C.E Mentoring Program: The Mentoring Program matches youth ages 12-18 in KFL&A with an adult volunteer who provides support and guidance to the youth as they work towards achieving their set goals. Volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 2 hours a week for a period of 6 months. Training and support are provided throughout. (Youth Diversion is currently recruiting volunteer mentors).
COVID-19 Screeners: Volunteer screeners will greet volunteers, staff, clients, and visitors entering the facility. Volunteers will be following Youth Diversion Screening policy along the guidelines from Public Health for potential ill health related to COVIV-19. Lots of training plus you must attend the online Canadian Red Cross training for Preventing Disease Transmission. (This will be paid for by Youth Diversion).
Youth Justice Volunteers:
The Youth Justice Committee (YJC) Program is an alternative approach to the formal court process for youth alleged to have committed a criminal offence. Committee members play an essential part in restoring relationships between persons harmed, the young person and the community. Volunteers attend scheduled Youth Justice Committee meeting dates to facilitate mediation between victims, youth, and families. Further training and support provided. This volunteer position has a two-year time commitment.
Youth Outreach Program: We hosts monthly events and workshops for youth in the KFL&A area. Monthly events consist of board game nights, craft nights, movie nights, “snacks and chats”, along with various outings/day trips. Volunteers provide support to small groups of youth with a staff member. Events run on weekends, evenings, in-person and/or online. Diverse applicants with specific knowledge and/or skill sets recommended to apply. Training and support will be provided.
