Position description:
- Martha’s Table is looking for volunteers to join our Board of Directors to support our mission of serving nutritious food with dignity to those in need in Kingston. Our mission is to provide a caring place where people in need have access to a nutritious meal and find community social support.
- The Board of Directors has both a legal and fiduciary responsibility to carry out the mission and mandate of Martha’s Table and ensure that the financial activities of the organization are both legal and in accordance with the government’s requirements.
- Board member responsibilities include: setting the vision and direction for the organization.
- Actively participate on board and ad hoc committees by providing leadership, advice, and guidance. Advocate and promote Martha’s Table services to advance the mission and vision of Martha’s Table. Attend monthly board meetings (currently virtual).
- We are particularly interested in candidates that have experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Not-for-profit board governanceProfessionals: of Finance/Accounting, Law, Business, Human ResourcesBoard leadership and strategic planningSkilled Trades & ConstructionSocial ServicesBoard SecretaryAdditional considerations – diversity, community cross-section, and experience with fundraising
